Strengthening Our Character

“Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character”. This quote wisely stated by Albert Einstein describes the likes of any human being’s character. Within each and every one of us is a character.  Whether good or bad, our character conforms us to who we are. Our moral strengths, contributions to society, and perseverance towards our goals determine our character.

Every day we face the difficult task to restrain from things that are harmful to ourselves and others. Some things we do may be enjoyable at the moment but can leave a very difficult path in the future. Moral strength plays a key role in our character and how we are seen by others. This means having the mindset in our heart to do the right thing, not because somebody told us to, but because we want to do what is good and acceptable.

How much you contribute to your community is another factor that determines your character. Contributing to your community through good deeds shows your willingness to help others while helping your community improve and grow.

“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up”. This quote, famously stated by Thomas Alva Edison, describes perseverance. In life you will face many obstacles and challenges and how you handle them requires perseverance. You must set goals and never give up while pursuing your goals.  This builds character. Setting goals and standards for yourself are great ways to benefit you, your community, and your character.

Whether good or bad, our character determines who we are as a person and the actions we take.    Good character is necessary for us to move forward and to strive to improve our world.  Maintaining good character is a difficult task and may take a lot of perseverance, but perseverance is an essential part of good character.
